At the Next New Networks party during SXSW 2008, Wired's Megan McCarthy brought a breathalyzer for a welcome dose of objectivity. But after returning numbers for the other blowers, for me both times the display simply said "hot". They'd never seen such a readout before! As always, Wikipedia spoils the fun:
Breath testers can be very sensitive to temperature, for example, and will give false readings if not adjusted or recalibrated to account for ambient or surrounding air temperatures. The temperature of the subject is also very important.
Valleywag got confused between the answers given by the device ("hot") and those given by people "[I am blowing] mostly boys".
